Automation Improves Court Efficiency and Streamlines the Processing of Cases

On September 21 at the Donetsk Territorial Department of the State Judicial Administration (TSJA) a training of trainers on developing computer software training skills will be held. The training is jointly organized by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Ukraine Rule of Law Project and the Donetsk TSJA. This training is another important step within the framework of designing and implementing a national strategy for automating courts in Ukraine that will help to improve court efficiency and streamline the processing of cases.


Advanced Judicial Ethics training program
On September 14 in hotel “Kozatsky” (Kyiv) an Advanced Judicial Ethics training program organized by UROL in cooperation with the Academy of Judges of Ukraine for judges that completed the TOT on Judicial Ethics and serve as a faculty in the Academy of Judges took place.


Seminar on Judicial Ethics

Today, on September 11 USAID project Ukraine: Rule of Law in cooperation with the Academy of Judges of Ukraine organized a seminar on Judicial Ethics for judges of trial and appeal courts.

On September 10 a seminar “Standardization of administrative procedures for processing complaints of judicial misconduct ” was held in National Academy of Science of Ukraine.

Council of Europe standards should be incorporated in all legislative initiatives of judicial reform in Ukraine – participants of the International Conference organized by EU/Council of Europe Joint Project and USAID UROL Project
KYIV  –  An expert conference ''Judicial Reform in Ukraine: Finding Solutions in Line with European Standards” took place on March 12 and 13 in Kyiv.
The Council of Europe in the framework of the Joint Programme between the European Union and the Council of Europe Transparency and Efficiency of the Judicial System of Ukraine together with USAID Ukraine Rule of Law Project, in cooperation with the Council of Judges of Ukraine, the Supreme Court of Ukraine, and with participation of the Committees of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and the National Commission on Strengthening Democracy and the Rule of Law supported the expert discussion on judicial reform in Ukraine in line with European and International standards.

Pilot Testing of Judicial Candidates in Donetsk
On June 26, 2008, a pilot test for judicial candidates took place in the City of Donetsk as part of an effort to promote transparent and objective judicial selection. The Academy of Judges of Ukraine conducted the test at its Donetsk regional department jointly with High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine, qualification commission of general court judges of Donetsk appellate circuit, and regional department of State Judicial Administration in the Donetsk Oblast.

Piloting a Simplified Form for Complaints of Judicial Misconduct
As part of an effort to promote a transparent, effective, and understandable judicial disciplinary process that is readily available to all citizens, the USAID Ukraine Rule of Law Project developed and piloted the use of a judicial misconduct petition form in the Kyiv Oblast.
